Arizona is more than just “The Copper State”. With a long history in semiconductor development, it's become a prime spot for tech giants like Intel, NXP, and others. The recent CHIPS Act has brought in federal funding of over $15.4 billion, and Arizona has seen investments of over $120 billion since 2022. HET has also made moves, establishing a sales team and office in Chandler to tap into this fertile ground. Texas, known as the “Birthplace of the semiconductor chip,” is equally thriving, with investments exceeding $150 billion. The affinity for bigger and bolder extends to the tech industry here, with AMD, NXP, Renesas, and Samsung making direct investments in Austin, better known as Silicon Hills. The tech industry in both these regions is absolutely smokin'!
For the 2024 SEM Tech Days, Phoenix, Arizona, and Austin, Texas were the natural choices. Customers and interested contacts related to semiconductor packaging joined us for insightful presentations on bonding wire, solder and sinter paste, sustainable materials, and next-gen products. To top it off, the Waymo self-driving ride-hailing service added a touch of futuristic travel to the week, paving the way for us to “Accelerate Our Future.”
